As most of you know, Steve Wozniak was the co-founder of Apple, so the fact that he has dissed the new iPad Air is pretty big news.
This news came out when he gave a recent talk at Apps World in London, a story that was originally published by TechRadar. His reason for not having an interest in purchasing the iPad Air?
While he acknowledged that it is thinner (this is definitely true), he added, “[B]ut I wanted storage.” Wozniak also told the audience that he does not have broadband at his home, and he carries all of his “personal media” in the iPad. As mentioned, the new iPad Air is quite thin. In fact, it is 20% thinner than the previous model. But the Woz won’t have anything to do with the gadget. He even went so far as to let his wife know that she shouldn’t buy the new device for him.
He also – amusingly – complained about having a terrible phone company (hence the remarks about not having broadband). That’s pretty shocking to hear from an IT giant such as the Woz.
As Tech Radar noted, Wozniak said, “I can’t order a movie from iTunes and watch it straight away. I could wait for it but I get bored by then. It’s because of my lousy phone company, but that is life. It is really sad as I was the one that had a 1MB line back in the day when everyone else was on dial up. I was the king of the hill.”
I think a lot of us can understand his complaints about having a bad phone company!
