Three databases – Lexis Nexis, Altegrity, and Bradstreet Corp – were attacked on Wednesday, according to a Reuters report. The group that infiltrated the three databases is known for selling sensitive information, including social security numbers. In addition, the cyber criminals behind this latest crime are also known for selling credit reports through stolen data. Oftentimes, such data is sold to a website called ssndob.ms (SSNDOB).
5 hacked servers were identified, and the FBI is currently investigating the criminal activity. Lexis Nexis was the only one to respond to inquiries and stated that there is currently no evidence of actual theft.
SSBDOB runs a botnet, which is a group of tainted computers controlled by hackers remotely.
