Speed and Infrastructure are Vital to Your DNS

dns speed and infrastructure

Once again, DNS Made Easy flies past the competition so fast it’d make even Superman’s head spin. March 2021 marks the ninth consecutive month that we ranked as the industry’s top performer in DNS speeds. Pair that with unbeatable pricing, exceptional customer service, and a 10-year-plus track record of zero outages, and it’s clear who the true hero of DNS is.

How do we do it? Well, I can’t tell you everything—that’d be like Clark Kent going public and personally delivering Lex Luthor a truck full of Kryptonite. Some things must be kept secret. But I can tell you this…

Rock-solid Infrastructure Equals Top DNS Speeds

We have 20 points of presence (PoPs) strategically positioned across the globe, as well as 290 Gpbs of peering capacity and 600-plus Gbps of transit capacity. Just as Superman gets his powers from the sun, we get our power from our infrastructure.

By the end of the second quarter of 2021, we will have three additional PoPs and plan to add 220 Gbps of peering capacity. We are always evolving and planning for the future.

Additionally, we have 3,222 peers. These direct network connections prevent route leaks, a common cause for DNS service outages. To ensure our customers have the best DNS experience possible, we will soon be expanding into four more major IX exchanges, which will result in an additional 1,000 peers.

Our DNS powers don’t stop there. We provide 4TB of DDoS protection and have developed our own proprietary DNS solutions for DNS Made Easy and our sister company, Constellix, which offers advanced analytics and Real-Time Traffic Anomaly Detection (RTTAD) technology for an additional layer of security.

DNS Provider Network Comparison

In comparison, other DNS providers not only have slower speeds but also have histories of outages. Peering capacity is a major factor in speed and overall DNS performance. For instance, Dyn, who recently suffered a major worldwide outage in March, has 25 Gbps of peering capacity and 73 peers, Ultra DNS 10/40, and NS1 13 Gbps of peering capacity and 116 peers. Neither of these providers publicly disclose their transit capacity.

You may wonder how the “Goliaths” of the industry, such as Akamai and Amazon Route 53 aren’t dominating DNS speeds. It’s simple, really. Location, location, location! These companies may have massive infrastructures and/or their own data facilities; however, the data from these locations still have to transfer to the main data center in the cities they are positioned in.

Furthermore, providers like AWS Route 53 and Akamai offer content delivery networks (CDNs) and a plethora of other related services alongside DNS. All of their services are in essence “competing” on the same network, thus slowing down speeds. DNS Made Easy, on the other hand, has dedicated servers and resources positioned within major data centers worldwide that focus solely on DNS.

To put this in perspective, in March 2021, we were 827% faster than Route 53 and an astounding 1,420% over Akamai (according to reported speeds in SolveDNS).

Our commitment to DNS management, and only DNS, gives us and our customers a considerable competitive edge when it comes to speed, performance, and reliability.

DNS Speed Put to the Test

Today’s online-centric world has a need for speed. Just a one-second delay in load time for a website can lead to a 7% reduction in conversions and millions of dollars in lost sales annually. Furthermore, speed is now playing a bigger role in SEO performance for web pages than ever before.

In the eyes of Google, for instance, a site with a score below 90 would need improvement, but a site with a speed score below 50 would be considered poor performing. This speed ranking and Google’s new algorithms now have a larger impact on SEO, especially for mobile searches. This is important because approximately 60% of online searches in 2019 were performed on a mobile device.

DNS has a significant effect on site speeds as it is what resolves queries for online searches. The faster your DNS, the quicker visitors will get to your site. Of course, the actual load time of your site depends largely on how your site is optimized, but a speedy DNS service is a must!

DNS Made Easy: The Superhero of DNS

Numbers don’t lie. And neither does a 20-year company history of industry-leading speeds and innovation. It all boils down to infrastructure, traffic optimization, and advanced DNS technology. Our parent company, Tiggee LLC, is constantly improving our current infrastructure and DNS products and solutions while staying on the cutting-edge of industry-related technology.

We may not have X-ray vision, but we do have the foresight to plan for the future—and have the “power” to keep your DNS super fast and reliable.
“Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings at a single bound!”  – The Adventures of Superman (TV Series 1952–1958), Superman Inc., DC Comics.
