The study first investigates how GeoIP services operate. Simply put, GeoIP pushes clients’ content all over the world at different IP addresses per region or location. When a user is searching for a client’s website, the query will be sent to a nearby name server, which then redirects the query to the relatively closest IP address for the desired website. This process allows Constellix DNS to bring client’s content as close as possible to users, decreasing resolution times, and nearly eliminating latency.
“Geo-DNS has proven itself to be the most efficient DNS on the market, this is because GeoIP services don’t require a protocol level redirect,” according to lead developer Anteneh Nurlien. “Rather, clients experience no appreciable delay because they’re immediately being sent to their desired location with no rerouting.” Nurlien is one of many Constellixengineers who provide their insight in this study.
